FastTrack is a feature in MikroTik RouterOS that packets that are marked "fast-tracked" will bypass some of a processing in the router (firewall, connection tracking, etc.) 3, this will reduce processing overhead and allow to have higher speeds achievable on the router. 4 The problem is that FastTrack bypasses simple queues, which are used for SQM.

Nice article, I'm using fq_codel with fasttrack enable and default mikrotik setting, make my hex poe keep running under 10% cpu! With fasttrack disable it can spike up to 50% during bufferbloat test. I have a question, did your queue tree settings affect lan speed connection between pc on default bridge interface (not yet tested it)?

Addressing bufferbloat with Gb Internet I'm running a RB4011 and am trying to figure out how to reduce/control bufferbloat on a Gb connection. Fasttrack's enabled, and a Queue Tree is assigned to the bridge. With a bucket size of 0, there's no bufferbloat , but download speeds cap out at 400-500 Mbps.
